Federal Research Grant Strategy for Biomedical Innovation
Experience
Hideo Scientific brings more than two decades of experience developing and directing NIH SBIR/STTR, DARPA, and DoD research programs in biomedical technology and bioscience. That experience includes more than $50 million in federally funded research spanning implantable neuroprosthetics, neural interfaces, sensor systems, and translational device programs advanced from concept through first-in-human study.
Our perspective comes from both sides of the process: designing and executing federally funded research and building the strategy, narrative, and commercialization case that reviewers evaluate. This provides practical familiarity with NIH review expectations, study section priorities, and the milestone-driven structure of commercialization-focused biomedical research programs — experience we apply on behalf of startups and investigators competing for federal support.

Implantable devices, wearable technologies, diagnostic systems, sensors, and biomedical instrumentation — from early-stage development and prototyping through preclinical and clinical validation.

Basic research instrumentation, in vivo study design and execution, and clinical research — spanning experimental methods, outcome measures, translational strategy, and the direction of complex biomedical studies.
